High heels often called Stiletto dance is a dance genre that had growing popularity in the United States, Europe and globally from the late twentieth-century and early twenty-first century. The style can be distinguished by one factor and that is that the dance is named after style of shoes that women often wear. During a heels class, the dancers will first and foremost learn the correct way on how to walk in heels. They learn different types of moments and techniques in which the body can use during the dance, fun fact about high heels is that you can incorporate many of the techniques in different genres of dance such as jazz, gogo dancing, Latin and ballroom, hiphop, burlesque etc.

People often have a misconception about high heels dance that it's just overly feminine and just " looking sexy in heels" which can't be anymore further from the truth. During a heels class you as a dancer tap into emotions and sides of yourself that often can be scary to expose, coming from myself as someone who still takes classes to perfect her craft you have to be able to be vulnerable and open when exploring who you are as a woman, femme etc, it's a form of art that let's the dancer show you who they really are and doing it in a way that leaves you in awe.

In this class you focus mainly on the basic aspects of heels dance such as walking, different types of stretch techniques to improve your flexibility and explore the many ways you can move your body, improvisation, floorwork is also introduced. In the class the songs are often slow or a bit upbeat but not to fast you you can take the time to learn and get comfortable with what you are doing.

The class starts with a warm up to improve the flexibility and strength, after the warm up we have a walking exercise in which you learn the basics on how to walk in heels. Just like a baby the first thing you learn is walk. Choreography is the element that we will do every single week and I teach a choreography two weeks before I move on to the next. After class it's important that you always do a cooling down for your muscles. Also keep in mind to never go beyond what your body is capable of you will learn as you move through the course.
