Have you ever wanted to learn more about wine in a fun way? If your answer is yes then our next event is something for you, because we are going wine tasting! We believe this is also an ideal setting to get to know your fellow EDS members. During the workshop you will learn the differences between various kinds of wines from different countries, the aromas etc. 

There are 24 spots and since its first come first served please be fast with registering. To give everyone an equal chance at registering, the subscriptions will open on the 6th of march at 12pm. If you receive a confirmation mail you have successfully registred.

Dear EDS people,

It's time to make the second meaning of the acronym EDS proud: Erasmus Dating Society. On monday the 13th we will host the first dance evening of the year and since its the day before Valentine's day we will make it an incredibly romantic night for all of you.

Since everyone wants to know who is single so they can ask them out on a date we will make the night interesting with a special dresscode:

Single guys and girls: Red.
In a relationship: Black.
Not sure/complicated: White.

Like the previous dance evenings there will be 2 rooms, one with salsa, kizomba bachata and hip hop and the second room with ballroom music.

We have our ‘winter-stop’ now at EDS but this doesn’t mean we’re not dancing in the mean time! The 13th of January you can dance some jives, quicksteps and more at the Winter Gala ‘Arabian Nights’. And for you ballroom lovers we have a free workshop Tuesday the 17th: Latin Technique. In this two hours during workshop Ramsley will focus on Latin techniques such as Latin hip movement and posture.

Within less than 60 days the NTDS starts in Amsterdam. We are glad 18 EDS members are joining this big event! We would like to support you guys preparing to this big competition with this free workshop J This workshop is not only for the NTDS participants. All ballroom dancers are more than welcome!

We (Marciano and Andjela) saw the love for Bachata explode this year. That’s why we’re glad to announce a Bachata Bootcamp the 11th of January: 3,5 hours full of Bachata dancing! What are we going to do? A mix of moderna and sensual, inspired by Ataca y la Alemana, Daniel and Desiree and Chaves and Silvia. We are going to teach some footwork and most of all challenging figures which you can apply in your socials. This workshop is of an intermediate level. We will make sure it will be challenging for everyone.

Did you miss all your dancing friends this winter-stop? Let’s meet this Tuesday already at the Rueda workshop! In the Rueda you dance in a circle with all your dancing friends at the same moment. The so-called ‘leader’ of the group will call and decides the figures you dance all together. Leon and Karolina will teach us great new figures in their 1,5 hours workshop. This Rueda workshop is of open level: Some experience with salsa (beginners level) is preferred, but everybody is more than welcome!

Sinterklaas has arrived in Rotterdam and along with gifts and pepernootjes he also brought a fun dance evening! 

So come join us on monday the 28th of november to show off your skills and have a good time! This fun night will be from 20:30 till 23:00 with separate dance areas for different dance styles. (Training room 4 and the Spinning room) 

This evening will be free for members but 5 euros for non members because of your day pass.

Lyrical dance is one of the most broad dance styles. The movements are influenced by the styles Jazz and Contemporary (Modern for Dutch Dancers). The technique is a combination of the techniques of Ballet and Jazz and the dance is made on the lyrics of the music. This music can be of any style as long as it has lyrics. Lyrical can also be used in Hip Hop but this does not involve any of the techniques of movements which are commonly associated with Lyrical.

Our own Julie van Putten, member of EDS and joining the activity committee this year, will take care of this Lyrical Workshop! She has been dancing ballet, jazz and contemporary since the age of 4. She also has choreographed two musicals and participated with two of her own choreographies as main act in a showcase which got her in the newspaper. She'd love to give you a taste of Lyrical in this two hours workshop.

Learn how to look more confident and sexy on the dancefloor. This Workshop Lady Styling will be given by our showteam teacher Jannuska Lucio. In an hour and a half, you will get the basics of ladies styling & body motion. The workshop will start with styling tips in the basic technique, body motions and end with a small choreography.

By joining this workshop, you will have an impact in the community of Rotterdam. All the money collected for this workshop will be donated to Starters4Communities Zuid-west NL. This is a social entrepreneurship programme, where 15 enthusiastic starters will follow workshops & help community initiatives in Rotterdam during a period of 5 months. Hereby they are tackling different needs in neighbourhoods, but also working towards a strong and social society. 

One of the starters is from our EDS Family: Arnelys Martus. She is following the programme, because she wants be of impact in her birth country, Curacao. This programme allows her to learn more about social entrepreneurship and community initiatives, which brings her one step closer to her dream of solving the problem of brain drain at Curacao.

From November 5 until 10 Erasmus Sport celebrates the 103rd Dies Natalis of the Erasmus University Rotterdam with a Dies Natalis Sport Week.

Monday the 7th of November there will be a HipHop workshop by Timor Steffens and warm up by Erasmus Dance Society! €5,- for non-members but this HipHop workshop is FREE for Erasmus Sport members! The time has come to show off your new dance moves. The first dance evening of the year is here! The theme of this dance evening is Halloween Night, with a special prize for the best costume!
